Being Queer and Ways to Find Romance
Queer is basically an umbrella term that is used to describe sexual and gender minorities that are neither heterosexual nor cis gender.
According to some LGBT experts, the term “queer” is a way for us to create space for individuals who have been excluded by the LGBTQ+ rights movement, by social norms and customs, and perhaps due to old-fashioned notions of gender.
The term “queer” has truckloads of conflicting meanings. It varies depending on who you ask for some LGBTQ relationship advice and opinion.
Some people still perceive it as a degrading slur while many embrace it with pride.
To others, to identify one’s self as “queer” simply means being gay or having the capacity to develop physical and emotional attraction towards different gender identities.
To date, “queer” is not the first term of its kind to be reclaimed. However, unlike other terms, “queer” seems to represent us all.
It’s a term that is charged with different meanings, perspectives and emotions just like the shades of LGBTQ+ identity.
To understand the word further, we can conclude that; “queerness can liberate individuals by disregarding social norms and living outside the ideals of masculinity or femininity”.
